Irish Free State Officer's Sword, complete with leather scabbard (the tip of which is damaged but present). The attractive brass hilt with Oglaigh na h'Eireann motif and with the 81.5cms (32'') blade engraved in the Celtic design. V. good & Rare. * Irish Officers had to pay for their own swords, which cost at the time the same as a weeks wages, in the 1920/30's, and more often than not had to surrender them on retiring from the army. Hence their scarcity. (1)
