Maria Simonds-Gooding Sheep in Mountain Landscape Watercolour, 55 x 73 cm Signed
Originally from India, Maria Simonds-Gooding moved to Ireland with her family at the age of eight. Her early interest in art practice led her to an education at the National College of Art and Design, and later Le Centre de Peinture in Brussels and the Bath Academy of Art in Corsham. As well as exhibiting in Ireland, she received international acclaim when she exhibited at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York in 1979, and again in 1982. Continuing to exhibit both at home and abroad, she was elected a member of Aosána in 1981. In 2002 she received a commission from the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin, for which she created a number of tapestries.

Joel Fisher (American, b.1947) Boundary Internal (Closed Paper A) Ink on handmade paper, 81 x 80cms, (irregular shape)
Provenance: Oliver Dowling Gallery Dublin, 1976
Provenance: From the Collection of Paul & Catherine Daly
Joel Fisher, originally from Ohio, has an international reputation and has had solo shows at prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. His work can be found in the collections of the Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and Staatliche Museum in Berlin. He is best known for his sculptures which are based on his works on paper. He has been hand making paper since the late 1960s, and uses the structural fibres of small sheets to create abstract works by adding ink. He intends these works, which he calls 'apographs', to create a link between the internal structures of the world and the way we interact with it.

Paul Spellman (b.1970) Dalkey Island from Killiney Hill I Oil on canvas, 50 x 70cm Signed and inscribed on stretcher
Born in Dublin, Paul Spellman is inspired by the rich tradition of Irish landscape painting. He completed his Masters in History of Art at University College Dublin in 1993. As part of his degree, he completed a thesis on the prominent landscape painter, Peter Collis RHA.
He has been painting landscapes for many years and has recently begun to exhibit his work with great success. His recent solo exhibition at Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre in May this year was virtually sold-out on the opening night. Spellman is particularly inspired by the land and seascape of Killiney Bay and surrounding area of South County Dublin close to where he lives. He has also completed images of the West of Ireland, the South of France and Ostia in Italy. His work, while representational, is concerned with the form in the landscape rather than being overly concerned with capturing the topographical details. He uses a naturalistic palette to convey the essence of the scene before him. He seeks out images which capture his imagination and contain interesting tonal contrasts and a strong formal structure.
Paul Spellman is currently working on a series of landscapes of Brittany, resulting from his recent visit to famous artistic locations such as Pont-Aven, Le Pouldu and St Guenole in Finistere.

Owen Rohu (b.1966) From the Orchard Oil on canvas, 39 x 49cm Signed
Owen Rohu was born in Dublin in 1966 and studied Visual Communications, majoring in Illustration, at the Dublin College of Marketing & Design. Upon graduating, he worked for the animation production company, Murakami Wolf before being recruited as an animation background artist by Don Bluth Studios in Dublin, and, after a number of years in their employ, accepted a position at Fox Animation Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. Inspired by Arizona's thriving art scene, Owen began painting during his free time and enrolled in part time classes at Scottsdale Art School. Eager to see more of the world, he and his wife moved to Sydney, Australia, where he continued his career as a background artist at Walt Disney Studios, whilst exhibiting his paintings in Sydney. He returned to Ireland in 2002, settling in Westport, County Mayo. He joined Oisín Gallery in the same year and has since featured in many of the gallery's collective exhibitions. He staged his first one-man show in 2006, with all works selling prior to the preview. Interest in his work has increased significantly over the years, and this interest is not limited to Ireland. His work has attracted the attention of collectors in the United Kingdom, America, and as far as Australia.

Alvin Paige (20th/ 21st Century) Embrace Plaster, 43cm high
African American sculptor Alvin Paige, originally from the southern state Georgia, began his studies with a BA in political science, and went on to receive various qualifications in both academic and fine art fields at the University of Texas, Harvard, Cambridge College and the Art Institute of Chicago. His work, which often has a strong moral content and sense of dignity, has been exhibited widely in the US and Europe, including Northern Ireland. An active advocate of human rights, Paige was commissioned by the United Nations to create a large scale piece for the International Year of Disabled Persons in 1981, and the resulting work which draws on Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man now stands at a rehabilitation centre in New York, having been on display at the UN headquarters for the year in question. Paige is artist in residence at the American International College in Springfield Massachusetts, and recently visited the Middle East with the Faculty for Israeli Palestinian Peace.
