COMRAGH INFANTRY, CO. WATERFORD, LATE 18TH CENTURY IRISH VOLUNTEER INFANTRY SHOULDER BELT PLATE. Oval, cast brass, crowned Maid of Erin harp engraved at centre, twin ribbons above and below bearing the regimental title ''Comragh Infantry'', single hook and pair of fixing studs to reverse, circa 1798, 2.9'' x 2.2'' (7.3 x 5.6cm) vertical approx. Perhaps a sister unit of the Comragh Cavalry, which was raised by Captain John Palliser on 31st October 1796.
