Irish Free State Officers Sword A very good Irish Sword, complete with original leather scabbard, and leather belt attachments, the attractive brass hilt with Oglaigh na h?ireann emblem and with 81cms blade engraved with Celtic design. V. good & rare. * Irish Officers had to pay for their own swords, which cost at the time the same a s a weeks wages, in the 1920/30's, and more often that not had to surrender them on retiring from the army. Hence their scarcity. (1)
