Third Tipperary Brigade, I.R.A. An important collection of typescript and manuscript documents / records, including Pension Committee. An extensive typescript and manuscript record of operations carried out by Battalion 5, 3rd Tipperary Brigade, during period 1916 - 1923, with detailed lists of those involved in various operations, and with covering m/ss letter signed John Lonergan (Chairman) and John J. Cleary (Hon. Sec.) 11 March 1940. Includes Easter Week operations, arms raids, capture of spy, raid on income tax office, post offices, attempt to set Ben Hickey free, ambushes on police patrols, mail cars, formation of flying column, capture of Clonmel R.I.C. Barracks (Feb. 1922), etc. etc., together with detailed accounts of events during the Civil War. A unique and important record, 38 folio pps. * Battalion VIII, III Tipperary Brigade - 2nd South Div. I.R.A. A v. good manuscript account of 10 folio pages by Jim Balrinton, concerning mostly the Carrick-on-Suir area, with a reproduction photo of the author. * A. coy Batt. VIII, 3rd Tipperary Bdg. Members I.R.A. only July 11th, 1921. A rare manuscript list of members, containing approx. 121 entries, with comments etc., and mostly with addresses on 4pp copybook, & 4 other m/ss notes & letters concerning same, delicate.
