A SCARCE EMERGENCY SERVICE MEDAL 1939-46 AWARD CERTIFICATE FOR A MEMBER OF THE 26TH BATTALION. Multicoloured on heavy white paper, award details at centre, Irish Army badge above, the whole within a Celtic strapwork border, the arms of the provinces at the four corners, and unnamed example. The 26th Battalion formed part of the 2nd Line Reserve, and consisted almost exclusively of members of the old I.R.A., most of whom had seen action against British forces between 1916 and 1922.
