DAIL EIREANN. PROCLAMATION. A printed notice issued by Padraig O'Ruithleis, Minister for Home Affairs [in De Valera's 'shadow' government, dated 14 March 1923, calling for 'a time of national mourning' in view of 'the murders of distinguished patriot soldiers taken prisoners in war, and the daily violation of the usages of war by the torture and ill-treatment of Republican prisoners', etc., and ordering that 'all sports and amusements be suspended, that all theatres, picture houses and other places of amusement and resort be closed, and in particular that horseracing, hunting, coursing, and all outdoor sports be discontinued.' With a cyclostyled sheet bearing an Irish version of the text , and another cyclostyled sheet bearing the English text headed 'English Translation'. All very scarce. (3)
