AFTER THEODOR MAAS The Victory at the Battle of the Boyne Hand coloured engraving, 54 x 103cm Provenance: Acquired from John Gamble, Belfast; from the estate of Tony Sweeney The Battle of The Boyne, entitled ''Victoire remportée par le Royal Guillaume III sur les Irlandoise ala Riviere Boyne en Irlande, le 1re Juillet, 1690'' - engraved by Theodore Maas from the Dutch Artist's own painting of the event for the King. A series of footnote numbers indicates where various happenings took place on the battle field including the deaths of Governor Walker and the Duc de Schomberg and the flight of James II. This was reproduced in part on the dust jacket of ''A New History of Ireland, 1534 - 1691, Volume III''.
