G., W. The declaration of the army in Ireland. Declaring their resolutions for a free Parliament, and the re-admitting of all the members secluded in 1648 - Printed at Dublin, and now re-printed at London: 1659 [60]. 4to. pp. [ii], 6. A very good copy in modern half morocco. Wing D 634.
Although this is described on the titlepage as being a reprint of a Dublin printing, no copy of the original is known to survive. The authorship derives from the introduction, a letter signed W.G., dated from Dublin, February 18th 1659 [60] and addressed to a friend in London. In it he tells how only a few hours earlier he has delivered another letter to the Post-house but “there having happened sudden and unexpected changes which has not only retarded the usual pass of the post but much amused the people in this nation.” The event in question was the handing over by Sir Hardress Waller of Dublin Castle to the signatories of the declaration headed by Sir Charles Coote.
