AN IMARI STYLE ‘LOTUS’ PORCELAIN TUREEN AND LID, MARK AND PERIOD OF JIAQING
清嘉慶 伊萬里風格蓮紋湯盆
The body applied with four porcelain hooks set with two metal handles, outer adorned in underglaze cobalt blue enamels, iron red and gilt with lotus scrolls, the top of the lid with a frieze of five flying bats amidst clouds, the finial shaped as a double peach sprig, the below inscribed in cobalt blue with a six-character seal / zhuanshu mark of Emperor Jiaqing. The below also bears an old collector’s label.

Note: The combination of five bats and a peach conveys the wish "five fortunes surround longevity" (wu fu peng shou, 五福捧寿).
