Published by Chapman & Hall/Lawrence & Jellicoe, London 1910, two vols., first edition (limited edition of the first edition of 250 copies, parchment bound), in original title-blocked pictorial cloth, size quarto, 24 colour illustrations plus numerous black and white illustrations in text, uniquely illustrated with an original drawing of Mr. Pickwick in coloured pencils, signed and dated Cecil Aldin 1911, vol. 1 frontispiece
Provenance: An undated letter from J.H. Williams, on 'Crown Solicitor's Office, Sligo' embossed notepaper, states that the writer encountered Cecil Aldin on a trip from Cairo who duly illustrated and signed the frontispiece with his drawing of Mr. Pickwick. The books were then gifted by Williams to Arthur Jackson who was a member of the Boz Club.
