Antique Kashan Silk rug, Central Persia (Iran), Ca 1890-1900 An impressive pure silk rug in exceptional condition, complete with its original kilim ends intact, original side cords and full pile. It has the supple handle of a healthy piece as against large numbers of similar rugs that have turned brittle with age. The design is a classical rendition of the entrance into the Garden of Paradise with exotic birds including peacocks in each top spandrel. The uncluttered, open weaving indicates good age. Superb, natural colours. Originally purchased in Sweden. 210 x 123 cms, 6'10'' x 4'
