Pádraic Mac Piarais [P.H. Pearse] Sgoil Eanna. Reim Oibre na Seachtmhaine [weekly timetable], 1912-13. Single sheet of foolscap, squared by hand, with full schedules in Pearse's hand for four classes, Monday to Saturday, in each of six school periods [9.30-10.30, 10.30-11.30, 11.30-12.30, 12.30-12.55, 1.40-2.30, 2.30-3.30]. A most interesting document, setting out a full week's work at St. Enda's on a single page. Evidently the lunch break was from 12.55 to 1.40; the short period before lunch was mainly for Christian doctrine. Double periods of hurling or football are scheduled on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. The other subjects include Latin, French, Irish, English, Arithmetic, Drawing and Nature Study [Dúil-Eolas]. Athletics and Carpentry are scheduled for an hour each once a week. There appears to be no Greek at this stage. A tear across foot neatly repaired, no loss. A very rare document, probably unique, and of great interest to educationalists. Pearse made his name as an educational theorist and practitioner long before he came to the fore as a revolutionary.
