William Percy French (1854-1920) The Mountains of Mourne Watercolour, 27 x 38cm, (10.75 x 15'') Signed 'Percy French (lower right) and bears an inscription and notation for the song 'Mountains of Mourne' 'W A Houston Collinson, Harrogate Jan XII, 1919, Where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea' (verso) The song 'The Mountains of Mourne' was written by Percy French and W A Houston Collisson in 1896. Collisson was a composer and pianist who co-wrote a number of songs with French. The inscription on the verso refers to Collisson and the famous line in the song.
