A RETICULATED JADE ‘PEACH’ PLAQUE
CHINA, POSSIBLY MING DYNASTY
Carved out of a single piece of white jade with russet inclusions. With a reticulated decor of five peaches, leaves, rocks and a lingbi rock.
L: 9 cm - width: 7,5 cm
Weight: 102,7 grams 

Provenance: Property from a French collector: a collection of jade and stone carvings and snuff bottles assembled over two decades. Pieces either bought privately or at public auction. 

Note: The peach (tao - 桃) signifies the second month of the lunar calendar. It symbolizes marriage, spring, justice and especially Daoist immortality (longevity). It is also one of the Three Abundances (Three Plenties).
