Peel Collection - Selection of autograph letters signed by both father and son - In all Nine Signed Items. Sir Robert Peel 1788 - 1850 held series of high offices including being Chief Secretary for Ireland (1812 - 1818) and Prime Minister (1834-35) and 1841-46. He instituted the Irish Constabulary - nicknamed ?Peelers` after him and, at a later point, started the first disciplined police force in London (Bobbies; also called after him). Sir Robert Peel (1822 - 1895) Chief Secretary for Ireland. According to the DNB his political career marred by his lack of dignity and his inability to accept a fixed political creed.
