DAIL SUPREME COURT 1922. A copy of an Order of Mandamus issued by Diarmaid O Cruadhlaoich, Judge of the (Dail) Supreme Court, requiring Eoin MacNeill, Speaker of Dail Eireann, to summon a meeting of the (second) Dail, at the suit of Kathleen Clarke TD. Cyclostyled typescript dated 5.8.1922, with supporting documents including Kathleen Clarke's submission, 11 pp. With a draft of Mrs. Clarke's submission with manuscript amendments; also (Second) Dail Agenda for 17 May 1922. The court system established by the Second Dail was dissolved by order of the Free State Cabinet in July 1922, and thenceforth was ignored by Free State Ministers. Republicans did not recognise this dissolution, and the Republican courts continued to sit for a time, although (as in this case) their decrees had no force. See MacArdle, The Irish Republic.
