'I regret exceedingly that you should have been placed under the indignity of having your premises raided .. I am having the matter investigated. I fully realise what you have suffered in the interests of our country, and am convinced that what you say is true, namely, that soldiers both of the Free State and Executive, if in want or wounded, would receive succour from you.'
