Eva Henrietta Hamilton (1876-1960) Girl Paddling Oil on panel, 34.9 x 24.1cm (13¾' x 9½'') Signed with initials Exhibited: The Frederick Gallery Spring Exhibition 2003, Cat. No. 5. where purchased by current owner Both Eva and her sister Letitia studied under Orpen. Eva specialized in portraiture, generally receiving commissions, and was most successful with child sitters. She never exhibited on her own, but was represented in the Irish International Exhibition in 1907. She first exhibited at the RHA in 1904, and continued to exhibit there until 1945. During the 1930s, owing to the economic depression, she turned from portraiture to landscape painting.
