A RARE AND INTERESTING PALEOZOIC PROLECANITID FOSSIL, in two parts.

 

It is believed that this ammonoid (a broad term used for extinct marine animals) dates between the Middle Devonian to Lower Carboniferous Periods, circa 300-400 million years ago. The Carboniferous era, was the time when many of the global coal beds were formed.
