Born in Dublin, Bernadette Madden was a student at the National College of Art and Design and was awarded the William J Macauley Fellowship in Painting by the Arts Council in 1976. She is well known for her work with Batik and also makes screenprints on paper.
She has exhibited extensively across Ireland, including at the RHA, and further afield in Norway and the USA, and has made fabrics for use in film and theatre productions. Her work can be seen in the Riverside Church, Co Dublin and the co
llections of the OPW and the Ulster Museum, among others.
