Born in Dublin in 1918, Una Watters attended the National College of Art where her skills as a painter were encouraged by Maurice MacGonigal. Between 1956 and 1965 she had several works exhibited by the RHA, was a member of the Society of Dublin Painters and won an Arts Council Award in 1965. Much of her early work was of a religious subject matter, and although she moved towards more everyday subject matter, a sense of humility and quietude remained strong.
Her painting The People’s Garden
is housed in the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery of Modern Art.
