James MacCarthy (20th/21st Century) Study for Jack Lynch Wax maquette for bronze, 30cm (12'') high Provenance: From the Estate of the late Charlie Hennessy, Cork. This piece had pride of place in the atrium of Charlie's solicitors practice J.W. O'Donovan, South Mall, Cork. One of the bronzes cast from this was sold in these rooms 4th December 2008, lot no. 6, and is a study for a commission that the artist completed in 2002 for Blackpool Shopping Centre in Cork. James MacCarthy studied at The National College of Art in Dublin and spent some time working with ceramics at the Kilkenny Design Workshop. His work has been exhibited widely in Ireland at locations including the RHA, The Oireachtas, Gormleys, The Hallward, EVA, The Lavitt Gallery, West Cork Arts Centre. MacCarthy's work is included in major collections such as The Arts Council, The Office of Public Works, AIB and RTE, as well as private collection in Ireland, Europe, Australia and America.
