Litterature: illustrated in ''English Pastels'' by R.M See Madame La Touche is thought to be Cecilia La Touche who married David La Touche eldest son of R.T Hon David La Touche in 1789. Cecilia la Touche is the daughter of Joseph Leeson, 1st Earl of Milltown and his third wife the daughter of the V. Rev W French of Roscommon. It is interesting to note that the Earl of Milltown's 2nd wife was the sister of Rev. Nathaniel Preston husband of Mary Preston (see lot 27). Hamilton executed over 12 known portraits for the La Touche Family.
