Harriet Osborne O'Hagan (1830-1921) A Farm in Normandy Oil on canvas, 35.5 x 46cm (14 x 18'') Signed and dated 1891 Original Exhibition label verso Note: Harriet Osborne O'Hagan was born in Dublin and first exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1849. She studied under George Sharp who encouraged her to go to Paris where she went in c.1866 and is said to have opened the first academy for women artists there. She visited Normandy in 1880 and remained in france for the rest of her life. A number of her drawings and two of her oils are included in the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland.
