William Conor RUA RHA (1884-1968) Dancing the Jig Crayon, 45.7 x 36cm (18 x 14'') Signed Music and dance feature strongly among William Conor's work, be they street musicians or in this case people indoors enjoying a dance. Conor carried a notebook with him at all times which he could use to ''note down any happening which strikes me as interesting and significant''. Conor added by hiding his sketching block behind a newspaper he had been able ''to garner many happy expressions'' as is the case here where the dancers are lost in their happy world more than likely unaware they were being observed.
