Henry John Yeend King RI ROI RBA (1855-1924) Young Girl by the Mill Pond Oil on canvas, 40.5 x 33cm (16 x 13'') Signed Provenance: The Spring Exhibition, The Frederick Gallery, April/May 2002, Cat. No. 7, where purchased by currently A London artist who first studied in London under William Bromley and later in Paris under Bonat and Cormon. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour becoming R.I in 1886 later becoming its Vice President. He exhibited occasionally at the R.H.A and once at the Belfast Art Society. He was at his best in works such as this, where his robust plein air technique and colours reflect his Paris training. Works by him are included in many public collections including the Tate, The Walker, Reading, Rochdale and Sheffield Galleries.
