David Nolan (b.1966) Seated Flower Seller at Hogans Oil on linen, 73.5 x 92.5cm Signed David Nolan studied Visual Arts at the Dublin College of Marketing and Design. While David has always worked on private and public commissions, he has also enjoyed a successful career as a Freelance Art Director and background painter for a number of animation studios. He has worked in Dublin, London, Los Angeles, Copenhagen, Oslo and Berlin for companies such as Disney, Warner Bros, Sullivan Bluth and RTE. In 2004 David moved with his family to France and has had several sell-out solo exhibitions in the country. Now back in Dublin, he takes his inspiration from the vibrancy of city life, its characters and places. He paints in a traditional manner based on observation, good draughtsmanship and tonal precision. The depiction of light is a strong and recurrent element in his work.
