Jacinta Feeney (b.1954) Arid Land (2005) Oil on board, 41 x 48cm Signed verso Artist's Statement: For the recent series of paintings on board I sometimes employ the image of an open book as a formal devise and the titles of these works relate to the division of land. The paintings reflect upon the sometimes dramatic changes etched into the landscape as either a mark of ownership or remnants of historical usage. The imaginative colour shifts within the work identifies varied usage for either peat or crops and the aerial views highlights the shapes or divisions marked across the surface of the soil.''
