Joel Fisher (American, b.1947) Boundary Internal (Closed Paper A) Ink on handmade paper, 81 x 80cms, (irregular shape) Provenance: Oliver Dowling Gallery Dublin, 1976 Provenance: From the Collection of Paul & Catherine Daly Joel Fisher, originally from Ohio, has an international reputation and has had solo shows at prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. His work can be found in the collections of the Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, and Staatliche Museum in Berlin. He is best known for his sculptures which are based on his works on paper. He has been hand making paper since the late 1960s, and uses the structural fibres of small sheets to create abstract works by adding ink. He intends these works, which he calls 'apographs', to create a link between the internal structures of the world and the way we interact with it.
