In 1875, two watchmakers formed a partnership in the Vallée de Joux in the Jura mountains in Switzerland. Their names were Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet. Each contributed their own specialty Audemars the creation of watch movements and Piguet their regulation. A hugely successful partnership resulted in a luxury watch company which remains to this day in the hands of its founders descendants.
The high-end complicated watch mechanisms they produce are synonymous with the name Audemars Piguet. The most popular line is the Royal Oak, the worlds first luxury sports watch which is favoured by the likes of Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z, Patrick Dempsey and LeBron James.
