Republican Newspaper Reports: Mr. Kevin O'Higgins Shot Dead. The Cork Evening Echo, Issue No. 10033, published on Sunday Evening July 10, 1928. It is reporting on the assassination of The Minister for Justice, and Vice-President of the Executive Council of the Irish Free Sate -Kevin O'Higgins on his way to Mass in Booterstown that morning. Few copies of the early editions of this paper have survived. This is particularly rare as it was published on a Sunday Night. The Echo was (and still is) published Monday -Saturday only. Together with 'Cork Evening Echo' for the following day, Monday July 11, 1927, with headlines, 'The Dead Minister: Investigation Continues But No Arrests Made.' A Rare pair. As newspapers, w.a.f.
