1916 Veteran's Armband A 1916 Veteran's Armband, coloured poplin, green with orange border and gilt embroidery, 9cm x 30.5cm approx. with elasticated fitting at end, maker's label at rear (Bergin's Real Irish Poplin). some fold marks otherwise in good condition. * The '1916' armband was the first decoration officially issued to veterans of the Rising. It was awarded at a ceremony in April 1935 to mark the 19th Anniversary of the Rising. The embroidery on this example is somewhat unusual, the central lettering and decoration is more usually printed. Rare. (1)
