***WITHDRAWN*** ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM HENRY BROOKE (1772-1860) A set of five sketches depicting various trades including: flax spinning, basket making, wood turning, forging, and shipping, all framed as one. Pen, ink and watercolour, 5.2 x 7cm each. Together with a set of five late 19th century, miniature monochrome steel engravings after William Henry Brooke illustrating the same five scenes framed as one. *William Henry Brooke was born in Dublin in 1772, he was the son of the painter Henry Brooke and a nephew of Henry Brooke, the author of 'A Fool of Quality.' He was an avid painter and illustrator; he exhibited portraits and figurative works at the Royal Academy between 1810 and 1826, but is best known for his illustrative work that can be seen in books such as: Moore's 'Irish Melodies,' Walton's 'Angler', Keightley's 'Mythology,' and many other works. William Henry Brooke died at Chichester in 1860, after a long illness, on 12th January, aged 88.
