Semi-antique Kashan carpet, town of Kashan, Central Persia (Iran), Ca 1930-40. A classical example of the fine weavings from Kashan, a town with carpet weaving traditions dating back to the Safavid Dynasty. The generous use of green is unusual - most Kashans are predominantly in the reds and blues - and with the ivory ground the impression is light and fresh. The wool is of high quality, knot count around 240 pr square inch. 378x280 cms, 12'5''x9'2''.
