Antique Baluch rug, Khorassan province, N.E. Persia (Iran), Ca 1880-1900 A beautiful example of Baluch tribal weaving, showing how ''primitive'' nomadic weavers can create superb, perfectly balanced weavings with a brilliant range of warm, natural colours. What appears to be wear is natural corrosion in areas piled with brown/black wool, due to the presence of metallic acids in the dye mordants.
