Semi-antique Karadja rug, N.W. Persia (Iran), Ca 1900-1920 The village rugs from the Karadja area are similar to pieces from nearby Heriz but with a slightly different weave structure. The favoured design is the symmetrical arrangement of a centre medallion framed by either 2 or 4 shield-like and matching medallions. This piece has a striking colour balance with particularly soft madder peach field and deep, midnight blue border, indicating good age. 190 x 139 cms, 6'3'' x 4'7''
