Deborah Brown (b.1927) Untitled Fibreglass in a plexiglass case, 30.5 x 28.5 x 25.5cm Deborah Brown began her studies in her native town of Belfast at the College of Art, later going onto the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and then briefly to Paris. She won the Carroll's Open Award in 1970 and along with Theo McNab represented Ireland at the Cagnes-sur-mer International Festival in 1973. Nine years later Brown's life time of artistic output was honoured with a major retrospective at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, and she was included in the recent Irish Art of the Seventies exhibition at the Crawford Art Gallery and Irish Museum of Modern Art. She received a major commission from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland's Sculpture Park, and her work is included in major collections in Ireland, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery.
