Frederick Calvert (c.1785-1845) Coastal Scenes with Sailing Vessels, Evening, (a pair) Oil on canvas, 46 x 61cm (18 x 24'') Cork born painter Frederick Calvert was mainly known as a landscape painter and exhibited in London and at the British Institution and the Royal Society of British Artists from 1827-1844, having published a book entitled 'Less on Landscape Colouring, Shadowing and Pencilling' in the UK in the 1810s. Calvert also produced a set of 39 plates in 1830 which showed 'Picturesque Views of Staffordshire and Shropshire'.
