Biography

Robert Taylor Carson studied at the Belfast College of Art. Working as an unaccredited war artist for the United States Air Force in Northern Ireland, he recorded the daily activities of the American troops during 1943-45. After the war he spent a year in America working as a portrait painter and won first prize in a National Art Competition in New York in 1947. He held solo shows in London, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, New York and Chicago and was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, the
Royal Hibernian Academy and the Royal Ulster Academy. Carson lived and worked in Co. Donegal for many years, spending part of each year abroad, particularly in Spain. Robert Taylor Carson featured in the exhibition "Ireland: Her people and Landscape" (2012). Please click here to view the catalogue.
