Biography

Originally from Co. Roscommon, Roderic O’Conor studied at the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin and received academic training at the RHA before moving to Antwerp, Paris, Grez-sur-Loing and Pont Aven, where he became friends with Paul Gauguin. Exhibitions of O’Conor’s work have been held at the Musee de Pont Aven, The Barbican, The Ulster Museum, National Gallery of Ireland and Whitworth Art Gallery (Manchester). His work is housed in major collections worldwide including at the Nationa
l Gallery of Ireland, Hugh Lane, The Tate, Victoria and Albert Museum, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Musee d’Orsay and The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.
