Mayo based sculptor Rory Breslin originally studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and from there he travelled further afield to work in foundries in Carrera, Italy, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. On his return to Dublin he founded 'Head Sculpture Galleries' and took up a position as lecturer of Figurative Sculpture in NCAD.
He later co-founded the Callow Bronze Foundry in Mayo, where in 2008 he was commissioned to create the bronze/stone sun goddess in Westport. Bresl
in holds a significant place in Irish sculpture and is well known for his regular public commissions such as the memorial to the late broadcaster Terry Wogan in Limerick in 2017.
He has drawn inspiration for his works from the built environment of cities in Ireland, such as his River Gods bronzes based on Edward Smyth's monumental keystones on the Dublin's Customs House. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and contributed to larger group exhibitions.
